NYC Summer Streets (August 9, 16, and 23, 2008)
Last Minute Details:
Do you want to get more involved? We are on the lookout for Volunteers for all three Summer Streets Saturdays, on August 9th, 16th and 23rd, to assist with marshalling the route, direct participants and help thousands of New Yorkers enjoy Summer Streets.
Volunteer orientation is on Thursday, August 6th from 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Details can be found at www.nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/involved/volunteer.shtml.
Summer Streets will temporarily close off car traffic along Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central
Park (and connect participants through low-traffic routes to the Hudson River Greenway and beyond) on three consecutive Saturdays
in August (9th, 16th, and 23rd – 7 AM to 1 PM).

NOHO NY will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 11th, at 5 PM, at the King Juan Carlos

Fifth Annual NOHO NY ArtWalk (April 10 –
April 24, 2008)

Join the excitement as the fifth annual NOHO NY ArtWalk in the celebrated NoHo community gets underway with its retrospective of established and emerging artists’ works from the U.S., Spain, and Japan, uniquely showcased in local stores, restaurants and banks. Don’t miss this exhibit of culture and creativity.
Presented by the NOHO NY BID in conjunction with New York’s leading schools for the arts -- including New York University, Pratt Institute, Fashion Institute of Technology, and the New York Studio School.

First NOHO NY Sculpture Symposium
Stone & Wood
Sculpting (August 28th - September 3rd, 2006)
The NOHO NY Business Improvement District will be celebrating their
tenth anniversary in June. We will be using the Mercer Street Park for
a sculpture symposium. This project is to enhance the cultural aspect
in the Community Board 2 area and to generate a larger awareness for
the park.
The purpose of this First Sculpture Symposium will be to provide
an outdoor working space for sculptors in an area of New York designated
as an artists’ district. It is also providing a place for
sculptors and artists to “work together”.
The Sculpture Symposium will take place in NOHO NY at the Mercer
Street Park. It is located on Mercer Street between Bleecker and
West 3rd Streets. Mercer Street Park is one block west of Broadway
and two blocks north of Houston Street. Working hours will be from
9AM – 7PM daily.

Third Annual ArtWalk (April 25 - May 2, 2006)
Date: April 25 - May 2, 2006. Opening reception at the Commerce Bank
on the 25th of April.
NOHO NY BID is now accepting artwork for our 2006 ArtWalk Exhibition.

your work, which should be matted

Retrieving Your ArtWalk 2005 Art Submissions (April 19th
& 20th, 2005)
The NOHO NY ArtWalk has been a huge success this year,
thanks to your participation! The opening reception
on Tuesday, April 5th had a huge turnout, so thank
you to everyone who attended.
These are the two allotted dates/times to pick up your
pieces at the NOHO NY BID (666 Broadway, 12th Fl.).
You MUST come during one of these two dates in order
to pick up your works.
Tuesday, April 19th from 9AM – 12PM
Wednesday, April 20th from 12:30PM – 5:30PM
Also, please note to bring your own protective backing,
as we discarded any additional materials
for reasons of conservation of space.

NY on NBC (February 23, 2005)
On February 23, 2005 the NOHO NY BID was featured on NBC News Channel
4 at 11PM for the repair of the cobblestones on Bond Street (from Broadway
to Lafayette Street).
As quoted: “Rebuilding History, One Block at a Time” with
the “unique partnership: the National Architectural Trust, the
NOHO NY BID and the Landmarks Preservation Commission. ”

ArtWalk 2005 (April 5 - April 12, 2005)
The NOHO NY Second Annual ArtWalk is now accepting artwork to be
displayed. The deadline for all entries is March 21,
2005. Please bring or send all works to the NOHO
NY BID (666 Broadway between Bond St. and Bleecker
St., 12th Fl.)
Please include the General
Release form with your work
(matted, no glass and no frames). Photographs, watercolors,
oil paintings and so forth are acceptable.

FIT
Alumni Star Salute Scholarship Dinner (October
6, 2004)
Harriet Fields, Executive Director of NOHO NY BID, was
honored at FIT's Alumni Star Salute Scholarship
Dinner for all of her work in building community
and partnerships between industry and community leaders,
and bringing the worlds of art
and industry together through a variety of projects
and events.
“I’ve always believed that art speaks to everyone, so I’ve
strived to bring art into my business as Executive Director of the NOHO
NY Business Improvement District,” said Harriet Fields, after being
introduced by Borough President C. Virginia Fields. “By creating
events like the ArtWalk that marry art and industry, I have been able
to bring visibility to both and have been privileged to meet some extraordinary
people.”
Every year, FIT's alumni association holds a gala dinner to support
their scholarship fund and to honor distinguished alumni
of FIT who have made outstanding contributions to design
and their community.

NOHO NY Annual Meeting (June 23, 2004)
NOHO NY held another successful annual meeting at the King Juan Carlos
1 of NYU.
In addition to the regular agenda, NOHO NY honored Robert Walsh, Commissioner
of the Department of Small Business Services, and Councilman Alan Gerson gave
out awards for excellence in art.

ArtWalk (January 20 - January 25, 2004)
ArtWalk is a winter event featuring a retrospective of established
and emerging artists’ works showcased in stores, restaurants, and
banks in the NoHo neighborhood.
It began Tuesday, January 20, 2004 and continued through the weekend,
till January 25th. Opening reception was on January 20th
from 6 to 8 PM, at Commerce Bank, 666 Broadway.
This event was presented by the NOHO NY BID in conjunction with New York’s
leading schools for the arts: Pratt Institute, Parsons
School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, and
New York University.

“Artistic Interludes” (May 14, 2003)
A new project called, “Artistic Interludes,” by
the NOHO NY Business Improvement District, is beautifying
vacant storefronts in NoHo with art until they are occupied.

Walking/Tasting Tour (August 14, 2002)
NOHO NY hosted a walking/tasting tour. Visited
boutiques, a stable house and the Colonnades on Lafayette
Street.
